WEDDINGS IN CYPRUS: THEMES AND SCHEMES PART 2

WEDDINGS & CHRISTENING PHOTOGRAPHY IN CYPRUS: THEMES AND SCHEMES PART 2

BLACK AS COAL

Many couples come to Cyprus to get married by the sea. Traditionally bright, pastel colours would be chosen for the wedding trimmings and details such as the bridesmaids’ dresses, the wedding flowers and the wedding cake. Lately however, there seems to be a big trend toward choosing Black as the wedding colour. I must admit, I didn’t initially think that I would like black for a wedding in Cyprus especially in the summer time due to the heat but I must admit I have had a change of heart. When black is teemed with another bright colour for your wedding you get a real sense of drama and sophistication that a pastel colour will never be able to. Whether it is the bridesmaids’ dresses, the groom’s suit or even the brides wedding dress which will be black be sure to teem it with a strong colour such as red or yellow for a touch of class.Check out  http://www.ukweddingbelles.com/weddingmagazine/themes/167-2011 for inspiration for your  2011 Cyprus Weddings.

I absolutely adored the combination of red roses in the wedding bouquet marriage with the sexy black bridesmaid dresses and the grooms kilt offset against the gorgeous bride in her beautiful white dress. Sheer dramatic wedding elegance, perfect for the Elysium Hotel http://www.elysium-hotel.com/  in Pafos which really does evoke a feeling of pure glamour. You can also have a religious blessing at the Elysium as well as the civil ceremony for your wedding in Cyprus. For your wedding flowers in Cyprus see  Enchanted flowers in Pafos http://cy.direct2florist.com/enchanted-cyprus-flower-lounge-ltd-f154253

Cyprus provides the perfect backdrop for any romantic couple who are getting married in Cyprus. The black bodice on this brides wedding gown just added to the drama already provided by the crumbling castle in the background. We went there after their civil ceremony to take the wedding portrait photographs; I think they looked like a perfect princess and her Prince Charming.

And speaking of a wedding fit for a Prince and Princess, the Amathus Hotels http://www.amathus-hotels.com both in Pafos and Limassol really do provide the perfect wedding venue. For the plushest of formal type weddings you really can not go wrong there. The reception areas at the Amathus Hotels really are stunning. The massive central chandeliers and small personalised crystals hanging over each table create a sense of opulent elegance which very few wedding venues in Cyprus can compete.
However not everyone wants to have a formal sit down meal and many couples are choosing venues which again reflect their personality and vision of their day. One of the loveliest weddings I have photographed took place in the garden of the family home. The caterers were absolutely amazing putting on a wedding feast that would give any hotel caterers a real run for their money. Combining traditional Cypriot favourites such a halloumi in pita pockets with real, fun finger food such as battered tiger prawns with sweet chilli sauce and chicken nuggets with a mayo dip, they were able to satisfy all their wedding guests’ appetites. The desserts were absolutely stunning and tasted just as good as they looked. I just had to be quick with photographing them before everyone dived in. For one of my favourite Cyprus wedding caterers Sans Frontieres see here for more information  www.sansfrontieres.com.cy .
 TREES AND BRANCHES

One of the ideas I really loved from a recent wedding I photographed, was the memorial tree they had to commemorate members of the family who had passed away. I thought it was a lovely idea as we really do especially miss loved ones who are no longer here on important days such as a wedding day. You can see a photo of the pink wedding memorial tree here.

This couple were also lucky enough to have a photo of them on the day the groom asked for the brides hand in marriage. Putting this on display at their wedding added to the uniqueness of the wedding day and was testimony to the love they share.

Another ‘tree type’ detail I really liked was at a recent wedding at the Nissi Beach Resort http://www.nissi-beach.com in Ayia Napa. A bunch of branches was put together like a tree and little notes on them told the wedding guest which tables they would be sitting on. The tables were all named a different country after all the places the couple had visited together.

PINK TO MAKE THE BOYS WINK

Pink is also a great colour both for weddings and christenings in Cyprus. You don't have to go all out, even just a pink runner across the tables and some pink sashes for the chairs can really create a wonderful ambiance for any Cyprus event as you can see from the photographs below.

PERSONALISED WEDDING AND CHRISTENING CHOCOLATE BARS

I loved the personalised chocolate bonboniere at a recent christening I photographed as I love anything to do with chocolate. For personalised wedding chocolate bars see http://www.eat-your-words.co.uk/occasions/weddings

At a recent wedding in Nicosia I photographed they also used personalised chocolate bars to help their guest locate their seat number which I thought was a wonderful wedding idea.

I even photographed a winter wedding in Cyprus where the whole theme of the day was based on chocolate. The colour scheme was cream and brown and chocolate was included in every thing from the invitations which came in the form of a personalised chocolate bar, the chocolate mud masks which were the women’s favours, vanilla scented cigars for the men, right down to with a menu which included chicken with a dark chocolate glaze!! Believe me it was my idea of heaven!! Chocolate fountains are also a great t hit with weddings in Cyprus and there are a couple of companies based in Limassol and Pafos who are offering this service. See Emil Gustav for more info http://www.thecyprusweddings.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=206:-emils-gustavs-chocolate&catid=18:bomboniera-gamou-vaftisis&Itemid=18

JAMES BOND THEME NIGHTS
One of my favourite themed events I got to photograph this year was the recent James Bond evening organized by Thema Design Solutions here at the Monte Caputo in Limassol. Cleopatra the event coordinator is a girl after my own heart; she is a total perfectionist and really makes sure that each event is perfect right down to the tiniest detail whether if it’s for a fully blown extravagant corporate event, an elegant wedding or a simple baptism. http://www.christinasavvouri.com/Wedding-Organisers-in-Cyprus.html

The James Bond evening was a fantastic affair, the details such as the red carpet, the white limousine and the gorgeous Bond girls made me feel as though I was at a film premiere in Cannes rather than at the Monte Carlo in Limassol. It was fair testament however that we can pull of all the glitz and glam of any major European city even right here in Cyprus too. The colour scheme of the night was black and white with hints of red which added to the drama and opulence of the evening.
