Since my last blog I photographed a wedding at the Atlantica Aeneas Hotel and Spa in Ayia Napa Cyprus. Kerry and Antony were a lovely couple, so obviously in love both with each other and their gorgeous little girl as you can see from their lovely wedding photographs. Weddings in Larnaca

At the recent Wedding Expo at the London Olympia I picked up a useful directory on the various wedding venues in Cyprus. I was pleased to see a plethora of options for brides and grooms looking to get married in Pafos, Limassol and Ayia Napa. However when it came to the overlooked little town of Larnaca I was really disappointed. Compared to the 30 plus options available in the other three popular towns Larnaca's contribution to this directory was a measly two entries.

As a girl who grew up in Larnaca I know that our town has a a special charm and a character reminiscent of the ‘real’ Cyprus of old which the other towns in Cyprus have lost to a certain degree. It houses the Larnaca International Airport in to which most international flights arrive . As a first stop of call it seems unfair not to give Larnaca at least a visit before heading out to the other towns if necessary.

Larnaca can be pretty much divided into three main entertainment areas.

Makenzy Beach which is a stone's throw away from the airport is where you can find a gorgeous array of upscale beach bars such as Ammos Beach Bar. Here you can spend hours sipping Mojitoes and eating sushi whilst taking in the local trendy crew and listen to some great music.

Down the road, this is where the long awaited Ktima Makenzy is soon opening Laranca’s answer to a sophisticated, glamorous wedding venue which we have had in various forms in other towns e.g Ktima Lanitis in Limassol and Lemon Park in Nicosia.

The recently renovated Flamingo Hotel in Makenzy is also great for any wedding guests looking for a budget friendly place to stay when coming out to a wedding or christening at the Ktima Makenzie or anywhere else at Makenzie Beach in Larnaca.

The second main area of Larnaca is the Phinikoudes area; the palm fringed sea front promenade where international known fast food chains such as Star bucks, Ocean Basket and one of the slickest McDonalds ever nestle amongst more elegant restaurants and coffee houses offering delicious local Cypriot cuisine. This is where one of my all time favourite hotels the Sun Hall Hotel which has recently been renovated is located. The staff is friendly, the food is great and the have over thirty years of experience in the industry.

For guests looking to stay in the centre of town the Amorgos Hotel is a gorgeous little boutique hotel just a two minutes walk from the sea which makes it an easy location to do do some exploring of the centre of Larnaca town and all it has to offer. The Easy Jet teams have also chosen Larnaca as the location for their first E Hotel in the sun, which is great for those who want simple accommodation in the centre of Larnaca town.

Finally the Dekelia Road area which is a good ten minute drive from the centre of town is where the bigger 4/5 star hotels are located. This is where you will find the classic Palm Beach Hotel, Sandy Beach Hotel and Lordos Beach Hotel all of which you could describe traditionally as the three main big players as the wedding and christening location of choice when it comes to Larnaca.

Many people I meet at weddings and some fellow colleagues are often fascinated and intrigued by what cameras I use for my wedding photography here in Cyprus. While expensive, professional equipment definitely makes life much easier for us photographers it is not the tools we use which guarantee beautiful wedding photographs. The key is to have a creative eye, a vision and knowing when to push the button on that camera to capture the 'right' moment. This is why I loved coming across this recent wedding video shot entirely on an Iphone4 , a beautiful emotive wedding video thanks to the talent and imagination of the artist behind the (small) lens and not the actual camera itself. Royal Wedding Video

I loved watching the Royal Wedding and have also really enjoyed the official and non official Royal Wedding photographs that have since been released. My favourite though is TMobile's version of events; I just hope they had half as much fun as these guys and that the official wedding photographer and videographer were just as creative :-)

Wedding Photography at the Capo Bay Hotel in Protaras

Photographing weddings at the Capo Bay Hotel in Protaras is a favourite of mine. The Capo Bay is situated on the beautiful Fig Tree Bay and also boasts gorgeous Oriental inspired gardens complete with a carp filled lake making it the perfect backdrop for your wedding photography in Cyprus.

Saint Raphael Hotel Family Portrait Session Limassol

I love natural, contemporary photography and more so when it's a family portrait session especially here in Cyprus where the weather is so fantastic and with all the stunning beaches we have. Off we went to the beach for some fun, relaxed photographs armed with lots of boys toys with Natalie and her gorgeous family. It was a great day out for all :-)
